膀胱结石有地区性，多见于10岁以下的男孩，于营养有一定的关系。近年来，随着我国人民生活水平的不断提高，儿童膀胱结石的发病率已有减少趋势。老年人膀胱结石常为前列腺增生症的并发症。
膀胱结石常见的四种病因
1、膀胱异物：膀胱里出现的任何异物都会成为核心使尿盐沉积于其周围形成结石。
2、感染：膀胱异物或者是下尿路梗阻的感染，特别是尿素分解细菌的感染，致使尿液的pH值升高，促使尿磷酸钙、铵和镁盐的沉淀而形成膀胱结石。
3、下尿路梗阻：在膀胱排尿无梗阻的情况下，很多沉淀的尿盐，是可以随着尿液排出体外的。但是当下尿路梗阻时，小结石和尿盐结晶在膀胱内出现衬垫，而形成结石。
4、饮食不当：在日常的饮食中如果高动物蛋白摄入过多可致尿液中钙和尿酸含量增加，尿pH值下降，从而是形成膀胱结石的原因。
